Great to know your ghoulish plans for the scary season! Vampires that eat you versus vampires that date you — ha ha! And, of course, I’m always excited for your take on the next Malazan book. Cheers, Mike!

Spooky season is my fave! Hitting Salem’s Lot for the first time next month, can’t wait! 🧛

I LOVE THE NECROSCOPE The first one is a little boring, but the series just takes off after. Scariest vampires I’ve ever read about, truly explores the nature of what I think a vamp is.

Also. Sir. Excuse me, but I’m older than you and books still scare me! LOL. What is this age that they don’t scare you anymore? LOL. I also vehemently disagree (respectfully) that The Only Good Indians is a bad book. A horror book that blurs the line between horror and literary fiction…what’s not to love?!

Seeing JAWS when the movie came out is why I don’t swim in water that I can’t see the bottom of.

The black phone is also a really great short story, written by Joe Hill.

Ugh the girl next door was so bad (only because it is a true story and I felt so sad for that girl) :(

I've had Sepulchre by James Herbert next to my bed for a long time. I've read The Rats and it was pretty entertaining, so I think October is a good excuse to finally get to it.

Man, it's sad to hear Fright Fest 2020 didn't have great views. I love the horror and especially SK content on your channel.

I don't know if I'm too old to be scared from a book. I might actually be more easily creeped out! All these books sound fun, and I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on The Bonehunters. Wishing you and your family a wonderful spooky season, Mike!

Necroscope. Bruh. That series is fantastic and gets better as you go along.

The Girl Next Door is a great book. It would be wrong to call it enjoyable, however Ketchum does a great job of letting you see into his characters and feel what they are going through. Not a book I would expect to ever read again but one I am glad I did read once.

You should do the video of the movies you and your wife are going to watch during spooky season. I am going to reread The Shining and Salem’s Lot. I always read those books this time of year. I am also going to read Survive the night by Riley Sager and The Southern Book club’s guide to Slaying Vampires.

I'm planning to reread House of Leaves and dip into a lot of short stories: Everything's Eventual, Books of Blood, and the old Scary Stories series (original art of course).

I would love to see an updated room tour. Your shelves are looking more visually appealing than ever! Also maybe show off where you store all your book surplus?? 👀

Love the shirt! One of my favorite spooky reads is Something Wicked This Way Comes. I've always intended to read it yearly, but I've only read it once as a teenager and have been itching to pick it up again as an adult. I loved the movie as a kid, and was blown away by the book. Something about Ray Bradbury's storytelling and the whole idea of the Autumn People just resonates with me. I love it.

BTW! What a bummer your Halloween themed month didn't do well. I love horror and your recommendations always seem to suit my tastes!

I started my spooky season on 9/1 and have been on a big Stephen King kick. I've read The Shinning and Carrie and am 60% through IT. Salems Lot is on deck. Favorite time of year!

This year I really have a good October planned. Usually, I just have my main October movies that I always watch and read whatever else I'm into at the moment, but this year there is a special October reading list, too. I got this really cool box-set with horror classics that includes: Dracula, Frankenstein, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and The Portrait of Dorian Grey. I should be able to fit all of them in. I also have a really nice book with all of Lovecraft's works that has been waiting to be read since last winter, so I plan on starting to slowly read that throughout the entire Fall season, as well. I'm so excited! I can't believe it's taken me so long to read these classics, even if the stories have fascinated me from childhood. I've seen so many movie/TV versions, and have heard some audio book chapters and what not as I've fallen asleep sometimes, but finally I'm going to sit down and read them properly. This is going to be good! :D
