Russia is learning a lot from the US. Good for them.

This is why I didn’t go over there. I’ll stick to protecting my home and family.

I am Vietnamese and I confirm that Andy Huynh is not a Vietnamese citizen, not a Vietnamese citizen. He is an American citizen and the US has to be responsible for him. His father is Vietnamese under the old regime (southern Vietnamese regime before 1975) and settled in the US for a long time. Andy Huynh's family opposes the Vietnamese government, he is not qualified to let Vietnam ask Russia to release him. Vietnam only defends Vietnamese citizens, he is an American citizen

When you jump into someone else's conflict, be prepared to bear the consequences.

Mercenaries are Not under Geneva Convection, in war- they are considered "war criminals". They get the same treatment as your own soldier who becomes a 'traitor in the middle of a war zone' (these two are still alive / prior military service indicates they know they could be executed).

They kinda got themselves into this mess. Fighting in someone else's wars never ends well.

I mean you're killing their soldiers. Imagine if we caught foreign mercenaries in Iraq who murdered Americans. When you look at it through that perspective it's easy to understand the Russian stance.

Who told those two to become mercenaries in a foreign war? No sympathies from me.

This is the reality of war. I've talked to so many young kids who are barely old enough to enlist that was to go and join the fight. I keep trying to explain to them that they don't understand violence.

This is war, what’d people expect? That after capture, they were gonna be served a stack of warm pancakes???

Unfortunately, these are the very real consequences of being a mercenary in a foreign conflict and engaging in the violence of war against military forces. I do not support Russia and want these Americans home but I sadly realize they are not afforded Geneva Convention protections as they were not uniformed soldiers and could very well be executed as terrorist criminals. The other American was right in saying any foreigners who travel to Ukraine to engage the war should focus on humanitarian and training than engaging in violence. This is what happens if you're captured.
