How about: “The letter E is in this box ____ times”?








Write “five” and there are six E’s, write “six” and there are five... but if you add *two* E’s by writing “seven” then it works.

Got it right away. I think most people would. For me, saying that you had to write it down in word form gave it away.

This would possibly work for drunk people. LOL. OR would be a good one for young kids.

I feel like this is more of a confidence booster before an actual closer. I like the following variant.
There are "R"s in this circle.

Four? Then there are 5. Five? Then there are 4. The next highest number with an R in it is thirteen, but that's way too many. I would accept something like "several" or "many."

Tried solving it, realized instantly the whole you add a r for the three but then forgot that four had a r in it and was instantly stumped. Was about to say there are six halfs

The first thing that sprang to mind was "multiple", which does not seem to be against the rules and skirts around the problem

The answer would be "one" because since the letter R is the only thing in quotes, you would only count R by itself. Just semantics at that point, though

I would have said 5 cuz r is also the radius so there are 2 extra just from the circle

1 - if we are saying "circle". But the answer is four. As soon as you write three it would become four, so might as well say four.

I solved it too! not so hard while sober, but in a bar after so many tests, puzzles, Im not that sure I could come with the answer. a few days ago I tried a not that simple, not that hard riddle and I over think it and end up like a crazy theorist conspiracy.
sometimes the best riddle is a simple one leaving room for the player to fill it with puzzles
