Quick Tips: Painting Chalk Paint™ Over Wax

In this video, Katrina shows you how to apply Chalk Paint™ over waxed furniture.

So, you changed your mind. Maybe you were all about Emperor's Silk last year. Now you're in more of a French Linen state of mind. The good news is, you can paint right back over your waxed surface with Annie Sloan's paint! Follow a couple tips in this video to get the best results.

Thank you. I just finished painting my cabinet doors white, then waxed them. When the contractors put them up, they left black fingerprints. I will try this method!

Would chalk paint work over previously raw wood that was sealed with wax? The cabinets changed color considerably with the wax applied and I’m trying to figure out if I can safely paint them now. Thanks!

What is this container you have? Is this some special lid?

How do I make the wax look matte again? I buffed it and don't like the shine on the piece. I also have lint or dust (don't know what it is!) all over the wax and not sure how to remove it? Your help is appreciated!

Now, I may be off subject but, can you paint with chalk paint over Mud Podge? Mettalic chalk paint to be exact.

can you paint over it with any kind of paint? not just chalk paint

You can't paint over wax! You must first remove the wax with mineral spirits. The new paint will peel off very quickly if not properly prepped for the new paint.
