Annie Sloan developed her unique and versatile decorative paint, Chalk Paint®, in 1990. She wanted to create one paint that could achieve several different techniques and finishes – from creating a textured chippy look to achieving a smooth modern finish, or even creating a wash. Annie's paint is non toxic, low VOC, and very easy to work with. There's no need to prime or sand before starting – you can just get stuck straight in to the fun bit!

You make it so simple! Other tutorials complicate things unnecessarily! Thank you!! Love Annie Sloan paint.
First time using it and first time using the wax! Wish me luck!

Thank you, Annie. I am waxing a piece I just painted in that same lovely blue you sell. Love it!

Ms. Annie I was terrified to wax and had considered buying polyurethane, which I later heard could yellow! Watching your video gave this anti-crafty lady hope. God bless and thank you for your video.

I bought a piece of furniture that I love the existing paint on it already. I don’t plan to repaint it. Can I use the wax over that existing finish? Thanks.

For drying the wax brush after cleaning, I made a little hanging gadget. I thought I would share. If I could figure out how to add the photo I took, I would have done that instead. I used a card board toilet paper roll, place over handle just to metal band, it fits snuggly. Then I used a hole punch and punch two holes opposite each other at top of the cardboard roll, leaving an inch space at top. Put pipe cleaner or long twisty tie through the holes and twist ends together....then hang from hook. voila' The brushes will air dry in the proper position without rusting the band. and the card board roll is reusable of disposable.

Ok my mistake waited too long to wipe off the excessive wax, it was not readily wiping off. Try to wipe with a slightly damp cloth - but did not work well.
What do I do. Tips are so welcome . Am a beginner with chalk paint.
Apply another coat of wax and just quickly wipe of the excessive as soon as possible.

Thanks for the great tips. I have a question, I have left over white and clear wax, can I mix them and is so what would it do to a royal blue chalk painted dresser

Urgent help. I put to much wax on my wall mural (chalk and acrylic) and there’s a build up of white wax on the black chalk. How do I remove the build up wax without tying the chalk paint mural 😢

I need to apply a second coat of dark wax, do I also apply a second coat of clear wax?

I love your paint and it looks beautiful on, but, I've used the clear wax twice and it's ruined it and gone all streaky. I don't know what to do, any tips please?

I painted a piece in old white with clear wax. I used a white lint free cloth, but there are many pieces of lint, dust (don't really know what it is!) stuck on the wax. Seeing it is white, you can see everything. What is the best way to remove them without ruining the wax or the paint underneath?

Dear Annie, thank you again for your great videos. I have a question - your chalk paint worked perfectly well on my furniture, I applied 2 coats of the same light blue as you have on this video. I let the paint dry for 24 hours before applying the clear wax. I tried everything as you show, but during my process some of the waxed parts of the furniture were "too dark", the differences between light and dark were very visible and now it has stains. Somehow the colour does not look even at all. I am just now in the middle of the process quite desperately looking at the result :D :D Is it possible that the "orange" spots start to bleed not after applying the paint, but after the wax? I will see how it will look like tomorrow when the wax dries. Thank you, Marketa

I understand it is not necessary to prime a piece prior to painting, however I would like to prime the piece, before painting it. I am going from a dark color to a white color and it would make me feel better to prime the piece, prior to painting it.. Would that be O.K.?
