It’s crazy how we are already getting “what happened to Jiaoqiu” vids before he even comes out😂

I just need his healing back 😭🙏
That's what originally lured me in into pulling him, cause he was really unique

In my opinion, it’s frustrating because he’s the first of what I feel like would be a pretty major first of his archetype, a dedicated 5 star defense shredder, but over time his purpose as a unit seems to have blurred and now he feels like a jumbled mess with no solidified place in any meta team.

I genuinely dont see a reason why they would nerf him except that he is not a waifu

The thing about him is that JQ is still BiS for Acheron in every mode by quite a bit. Jiaoqiu's debuff uptime is a lot better than other nihilities due to it debuffing enemies in upcoming waves and how his stacks increase when using his ult. He will still generate significantly more stacks than other characters for acheron even after the nerf. And if your acheron is E2, Jiaoqiu is still the best single nihility for her by a noticeable amount again

And yeah other than that, he's either a downgrade or a side grade to other limited 5 stars in pretty much every team (the only other teams where it makes sense to play him would be dr ratio or DoT teams). There is next to no reason to pull for him unless you have Acheron and really want to upgrade her stack generation

The main problem is that Acheron is one of the last characters that needed a buff. Designing a support specifically to help Acheron is questionable to begin with due to her already clearing most of the content comfortably.. JQ was never going to have a kit that was anything special due to this

v5 change was the final straw, making the debuff go only 6 times during ult. I was gonna pull him regardless when v4 changes were made. Oh well. It is what it is.

"A chef who doesn't want to be a healer isn't worth his salt..."
-Jiaoqiu

The guy himself thinks he's useless. They could have given him a weak heal for it to make sense, like healing 300 hp of the unit with the lowest health when Jiaoqiu uses his skill.

Remember that it's hoyo we're talking about.... Nerfing a character is possible only when the kit will affect a future character or will create a dynamic with current characters that they can't make it possible since it'll affect sales regarding new characters...
An example is that how they changed Raiden's ultimate to make sure it won't work with beido since it'll just be an f2p infinit cycle of bursts..

The introduction of trigger limit from v5 was unfortunate for Jiaoqiu to have. But with the right build, you can mitigate that issue and he'll still provide much more stacks for Acheron. I have seen few vids of v5 Jiaoqiu going hyperspeed and he still perform fine in pf for Acheron.

Regardless of Acheron's investments into eidolons and her lc, he's still Acheron's bis support despite of the nerfs. Jiaoqiu having 100% uptime to keep the enemies vulnerable is very useful in multiwave contents and bosses with phases. Vulnerability is also a great debuff and doesn't have a cap so he does work well with Aventurine s1.

If they were to revert and buff some of his kit, he would sell. A lot of players owns Acheron and more would invest into Jiaoqiu if he was stronger compared what he is in v5. I wish he was better still.

Simple: Nothing happened

He didn't fail as a character, he is still is a pela replacement, he now also has good use in DoT, and he's good in Ratio team. Jiaoqiu is a good character, the math and countless showcases show it, yet somehow the narrative that he isn't keeps getting pushed foward with nothing but misused calcs or feelscrafting for evidence

"The issue": Them rebalancing his damage from normal to DoT literally affected in nothing his Acheron teams, I don't know why you mentioned that in the first place, but I know why you didn't try to explain it, because it doesn't make sense. The amount of damage amp he provided to her stayed the same from V2 to V3, the amounts of stacks stayed the same from V2 to V3, and in fact he gained an energy trace that allowed him to ult earlier on meaning you don't risk having to use your first ultimate on Acheron without his active, so if anything V2 to V3 was a buff

Something esle I noticed you mentioning his defense shred not being as high as pela's, which is correct since he doesnt even have def shred in his kit... he has Vulnerability which is a completely different thing

Pure fiction and V4: The actual nerf, 6 stacks per ult limit, limited the PF power. But why do you say "A lot of people really wanted Acheron to have that best in slot support for pure fiction, and just in general in the game", as if that's not what happened. For pure fiction specifically, even though he did get nerfed, he's still by far the best nihility for her, not even close.
AoE over SW in an AoE focsed mode, while limited to +6 now on enemy turns, that's still 6 more stacks than SW or Pela can give, his own DoT will be able to finish off smaller enemies who you don't want to waste an Acheron ultimate on, and on top of all, his Debuff being constant over waves, unlike Pela's. The difference between a Jiaoqiu Acheron and one without in PF is still glaring.

About your honest thoughts at 3:50, if you want to understand why they "nerfed" him the way they did, you first need to actually look into the character, the theorycrafting and showcases for him and ask how much did they really nerf him, because for Acheron specifically, the difference between V1 and the final version we'll get is literally only the 6 stack caps on ult which will only affect PF, and an extremely insignificant loss in damage if you were going for S1. It is ironic how you recognize that V1 jiaoqiu is a good character yet claim they made him a lot worse without actually showing any proof of it, you bought and is selling a narrative built on nothing but word of mouth from reddit and leak forums, who have been wrong again and again.

Sorry if I came across as rude or anything. But really, you mention countless times how they nerfed and made him a lot worse, but don't actually go over how those changes affected his teams, because if you did you would come to the conclusion everyone who actually looks at it in depth does: He was nerfed for PF, still BiS for Acheron at all levels of investmeant, good sidegrade to E0 Topaz on Ratio teams, Good sidegrade for Ruan mei on DoT teams which is especially important for accounts that do have both DoT and Break dps' since Ruan mei amplifies Break comps more than she does DoT
