For specifically futureproofing, I think 7900 xtx's 24 GB VRAM would last almost a decade while 16gb one will probably last 5-6 years.

I got a 7900 XTX referbished by AMD at microcenter for 850$ basically a brand new card not a single piece of dust on it out of the box. Thought it was a great deal and couldn't be happier pairing that with a 7800X3D. Crazy performance in every game I play.

I mean to be fair, you see the 4090 getting 20 fps in cyberpunk ultra with ray tracing, so sometimes upscaling does matter

Getting the nvidia benifit for 10% more I think is totally worth it, if you already go that expensive...
Also, for machine learning and blender nvidia is wayyy better, so choose wisely

If im spending that much i would definitely want ray tracing do id go with 4080 super, very few people are Willing to spend that much for just maximizing performance, im sure you'd want ray tracing, the performance is still goito crush every AAA game out there.

Im rocking the rx 7900 xt and its doing great at 1440p with 20gbs of ram which is nice. I probably should need to upgrade for the next 5 to 7yrs. Especially if FSR4 gets used since the 7000 series has ai accerleration so I assume it'll be on there as well

7900xtx and Rtx 4080 super are priced literally $35 apart in India, 7900xtx being $35 more expensive.
7900xtx -$1310
4080 super- $1273.
It's a no-brainer to buy Nvidia gpus in India.

The thing I went through the same thoughts choosing a gpu for my gaming pc, but the kicker is that gpus and pc parts are on average 20% more expensive in my country which is just a pain and a headache for my wallet.

AMD frame generation and ray tracing can improve, and the Vram can set you up more years to come

Don't forget that AMD's frame generation and ray tracing performance can get better over time, and it has more vram if game textures get even bigger in the future than they are now

I'm not a fanboy because I have on several of each brand over the years, but I am a big fan of AMD. You get a lot more bang for your buck in general, but when it comes down to these two cards I would definitely go with Nvidia. That RTX 4080 super is a banger of a card.

Ofc upscaling isn't need that much today, unless you wanna do path tracing.
However, as games get more and more demanding it would be good to have that option.

I disagree tbh, I think 4k is where upscaling is most important. 4k is crazy demanding and a bit of upscaling improves the experience by a lot, and high resolutions like 4k are where upscalers do their best work. So I'd rather have the best upscaler available if I'm gaming at 4k. Even DLSS Performance looks very usable at 4k.
