For those who wanted to see how to actually use the integral to get the area:

=(-1/2)(x) + 7
would become (through the power rule)
=(-1/4)(x)^2 + 7(x)
then the next step would be to plug in the limit values and subtract:
=(-1/4)(6)^2 + 7(6) - (-1/4)(2)^2 + 7(2)
simplified:
=33-13
=20
