Here is a quick overview of Black Diamond's newest headlamp. Hope you enjoy, feel free to ask questions in the comments section!

UPDATE 2/27/2015: Its holding up great, actually. I had my doubts as well, but this thing has REALLY taken a beating from me since I posted this. Its been on a couple week-long backpacking trips across the country. One in the Appalachians (GA-SC on the AT) as well as a 90 mile trip in Glacier NP. I've taken it climbing on Rainier four times, Adams 2 or 3 times, and Mt. Baker once. Not to mention the COUNTLESS day hikes and 2-3 day trips in the PNW. I also use it hunting, hiking, walking at night, etc. Its my go-to method for illumination. I even used it while I was working on my Jeep's transmission (no garage at the time, just a gravel driveway), bumping it on the undercarriage all the time. It fell off my head while riding a bicycle in downtown Atlanta at about 25mph. It didn't get run over by any cars, but it did hit the asphalt and bounced around a bit. I've tossed it in backpacks, from which it fell out of and bounces on rocks or whatever else was around. Overall a VERY solid headlamp. Its actually charging on my laptop as I write this. Hope that helps!

This was a wonderful demonstrations.  I'm 50 years old and preparing for African trip where I will need a head lamp at night.  This was a bit more complicated then I expected so the video was a lot of help!

Super helpful...I have this older model and only use it a couple times a year. Lost the instructions but I knew I was missing out on some extra features (lock, dimmable, etc). Thanks!

Good job on the review. I'm with you on the trying to get a feel on working the different settings on it. Can be a pain, but sooner or later we get the hang on it.

Thanks for the demo.

Yeah, I wish it was waterproof too. However, it did get pretty damp in my backpack when I was climbing Rainier this past December and the lamp is still fine. It also fell of my bike helmet while I was cycling down at about 25mph and it still works just fine! I'm very impressed by the durability offered in this product.

Thanks for the review.  Just received mine a few days ago.  Have you had any problems with the rechargeable batteries taking a charge?  I had the headlamp plugged in over night and the batteries still are not charged?  Anthony.

Yo man....you are a lifesaver.  I just purchased this and would have broken off the top hinges had I not watched your video.  My Petzle opens from the top, so I assumed this opens from the top also.  Thanks a lot for saving me a lot of trouble

Problem with the headlamps that have two small LED's on either side of the main LED and its reflector is that two separate red light beams are produced with partial overlap which makes them nearly useless for viewing anything at arm's length or closer.

Thanks for the video. Had a hard time figuring out how to open battery compartment - mine did not come with a sticker indicator like yours.

The red light is to keep your night vision. Your eyes don't have to adjust when turning off the normal LEDs.

How's it holding up? It doesn't seem to sturdy with the snap shut over the batteries.. over time it looks like it could fail closing shut. Idk tho I could be wrong.
