Grabbed my Miyoo mini from Ali Express. Arrived in around a week. I installed Onion OS and honestly, it’s the best retro gaming experience I’ve had yet. Onion OS game switcher is great.

Just got my RG35XX today. Noticed remapping the controls for the Capcom fighters was nearly impossible on the stock OS, modded it earlier today. Garlic OS pretty much fixed every issue I had. Anbernic just needs to work with Black Seraph for their software lol. The RG35XX still feels really small, but I grew up playing the huge ass original Gameboy....😂
I feel like I would squash the Miyoo Mini in my hands playing fighting games lmao.

People always say the miyoo feels like better quality, but more people have complained about it breaking after falling than the 35XX...

I think this won't age very well. As soon as OnionOS is actually out for the Miyoo Mini Plus, it's solved. It's quite a bit ahead of GarlicOS (on the Miyoo mini) feature-wise. Also: GarlicOS is one guy, OnionOS are several. The form factor thing, I guess, is highly debatable, and we all have different hand sizes/finger lengths, so obviously one will be more comfortable for some, the other for others.

I had both but returned the Mini+ because the RG is better built night and day difference. Its a shame because I liked the smaller size of the M+ but at the end of the day the better build quality matters the most and that longevity

I got my rg and the screen was coming off and it rattles alot which is not that big of a deal the mini is more pocketable imo. The rg35xx is more comfortable for longer sessions and the d-pad does t have to have tape added to fix it . The miyoo plus is better made but the rg35xx is more affordable and a little more ergos . My choice is miyoo plus. Great review.

It's nice to see a video that isn't just pure Miyoo cult. I have had a + on order since late Feb from GoGameGeek that just finally shipped so looking forward to comparing them myself but I'm worried that the shorter length is going to be uncomfortable with largish hands. As the only handheld I own that isn't an actual Game Boy, the RG has gotten more play over the last couple of months than my PC, which says a lot for me.

On the miyoo mini, with how many reports of the screen breaking and popping off, they should just make it so it attaches with strong magnets around the edges. That way it’s easily replaceable and it would probably never come off unless you pried it off.

RG35XX doesn’t have multiplayer the way Miyoo Mini Plus does. Can’t use two separate devices on RG35XX

Man I'm struggling to decide. Something about the Mini+ aesthetic that looks really good. But with how hard securing one is, RG35XX is looking really good.

I guess the major points would go to screen quality, ergonomics and performance. And is OnionOS that superior to GarlicOS? Battery won't matter I guess since I can just use a power bank for it, and I don't think I'll need more than 3hrs of straight use.

EDIT: just to add, I'm looking to emulate mostly PS1, GBA and SNES
