Why are they so hung up on it being american, going into space is the impressive bit not the nationality of the people involved.

Is it just me or do those space suits look utterly fake? If you look at every other launch suit they have always been thick and bulky so they can withstand a vacuum if needed and they have connections to connect air, and well if you look at the space X ones they well look like cheap motor bike leathers with a fancy plastic helmet, and they look skin tight so no room for structural reinforcement to withstand a vacuum and no connection points for air to breath or pressurize the suit, almost looks like they would suffocate if they closed the visor and on the visor it does not even appear to have a locking mechanism...

Allow me to comment on a constant complaint I've heard. Apparently some people are bothered by the sense of patriotism that some Americans are expressing in this historic moment. Well, I don't feel we need to apologize for it. Why is it ok for other countries to be proud of their launches, but not the US? Why is it so taboo? There's nothing inherently arrogant about being proud of this moment and in no way does this mean the US will aim claim space for itself as some ridiculously claim. Note: the goal of NASA now is not making governmental claims in space but the commercialisation of space. Now you can choose to believe that is the goal or not, but that in and of itself is not claiming space for America. It's been 9 years of hitching a ride with Russians, paying them 80 million dollars a seat. Of course we are going to be excited about this! Frankly I'm just tired of the obsessive America-bashers that just want us to have absolutely nothing to be proud of, thinking Americans being happy about an American accomplishment is, by default, an insult against other countries. That's just utter nonsense.
