Stranded Aussie urges a 'more nuanced approach' to receiving overseas travellers

Lex Sadler has told Sky News the most “anxiety-inducing” element of being stranded overseas is booking a repatriation flight home and not knowing whether it will be allowed back into Australia.

“You can book the flight, you can plan ahead, pack your things, not really knowing what your chances are of boarding that plane.”

The New York based musician said while people trapped overseas did not want to see a COVID crisis “on Australia’s doorstep”, it would be good to see particularly vaccinated Australians being received back home.

“You know we are 12 months down the track and it would be good to see a more nuanced approach to handling incoming Australia citizens because there’s plenty of us around the world trying to get back,” Mr Sadler said.

Hold on. So he is a New York resident, but says he's stranded?? How? He is at home. Yes he's an Aussie and has family here I'm guessing - but he's not literally stranded, living in hotel rooms and freaking out at the credit card debt he's accruing trying to survive til he can get back on our shores..
