In this video I tried to scientifically test mewing to see if mewing had any scientific validity to it, or if it was simply pseudoscience.

Have a great week guys! Cheers.

Mouth breather is such a low-key gem of an insult.

From a guy who has been mewing for 1 year here is what I've been through:
1- It's a very slow process but worth it in the end, because mewing becomes part of your daily life and you dont have to think about it everytime you do it.
2- At first its hard to mew properly but once you get the hang of it, its like blinking. Because your tongue is a muscle and after alot of training, you will physically see your whole tongue on the roof of your mouth. It took me about 3 months to perfectly put my whole tongue on the roof of my mouth.
3- My double chin is completely gone, though this doesnt work if you're overweight.
4- Jawline visibility has a slight improvement.

If mewing doesn't help with your jawline

It sure will help with your nasal breathing and your double chin,
So it is a win win

The postural differences in the two photos really skewed results Imo

I’ve suffered from earaches as an adult. I’ve been doing exercises like this for a a few months now. My breathing improved. I can now breath through both nostrils, my hearing in one ear improved and I no longer get earaches. All these muscles and air pathways benefit from some healthy attention.

Now let's wait for Matt D'Avella to do it for a week.

Mewing isn't actually some new health trend, it is the proper mouth posture, I work in dental office, and we remind children to keep the tongue on the roof of the mouth all the time. Children with inproper tongue posture can devolop problems, and that is known in dentistry. Teeth move untill the day we die, our jaws also adapt to change, ofc drastic fast change can only happen with surgery or in growing children but change does happen to a certain degree at any age. We use certain mouth guards for sleep apnea and the one we make pushes the lower jaw forward, and there have been cases where we had to stop the use because the lowerjaw/teeth had started to change, and the patients are in their 60s at this point. I don't see why mewing wouldn't work, but I would guess in adults the change would require years of consistant active pushing and correct resting. Best thing anyone can do for themself is to learn propel walking technique, keep good spine, shoulder, neck posture and to keep the tongue in the roof of your mouth.

Bah.. this 30-days result is exaggerated. I've been doing mewing for 2 years and the noticeable changes of my jaw happened only after 1 year. It's a slow process, it takes time, discipline and patience to achieve good jaw form. It's important that you warn your viewers that the result is not immediate, so it doesn't crush their motivation to keep on mewing.

Chronic mouth breather here and I can tell you my nose definitely opens up and I am able to breathe through my nose when I have good posture. Never done mewing but I have noticed that trying to keep good posture as much as I can has significantly helped with being able to breathe properly through my nose.

I have been doing this my whole life but i didn't know it was called mewing. During my late teens i started seeing significant facial changes for the better and i was pleased just by pressing my tongue to the top of my mouth. I did it naturally only because i noticed it looked better when my tongue was there. I still do it naturally to this day. This is interesting science and i know this really does work.

As one of the people who took the survey, I have to say that my vote was definitely influenced by the position of your jaw in the photos. To really judge whether your jawline had changed (irrespective of position), you would need to be in the same position in the two photos.

Been mewing for 5 years. Started at 16 years old when I was still growing and developing and now I'm 21. My face used to have a very narrow and weak jawline and double chin though I have always been thin. my lower face has grown wider and my double chin is gone. I have a sharper jawline and am happier with how I look. I had to have braces in middle school and I haven't worn my retainer since starting to mew, my teeth haven't moved at all.

As an dental technician i can say that mewing works. Our bones deform slowly if you put pressure on it. Like correcting teeth. In young age it happens quicker because you are growing. But it also works in adulthood, but much slower. Still worth trying out.
