For anyone that doesn't know: James only dowpicks 8th notes, he alternates whenever there are 16ths. Same logic applies to riffs that have a groove that changes beetween 8ths and 16ths, like Eye of The Beholder, Disposable Heroes, Damage Inc. (bridge riff), Master of Puppets (after the solo), etc.

Although that's not the hardest part as I'm sure most of you know lol What always got me with Metallica songs wasn't necessarily the learning part it was remembering all the diff parts to every single one Ive learned most generally I can piece the ones I haven't played in awhile with a quick peek or actually listening to the song!
