Sleep is important. A sleep specialist describes sleep disorders that are prevalent in Parkinson’s disease such as REM sleep behavior disorder, restless legs syndrome, insomnia, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and daytime sleepiness. Also examines helpful medications and medications you should avoid. This video is part of a playlist of 6 videos of the sessions in the University of Michigan's Parkinson's Disease & You Symposium held on October 9, 2016 and sponsored by the U-M Udall Center of Excellence for Parkinson’s Disease Research.

I have problems moving and getting comfortable. I cannot move in bed, can’t move my legs, takes me many seconds to turn over..arms and hands sleeping..that tingling sensation…it’s brutal 😐

The focus on some of these drugs is troubling. Better research needs to be done. It is very unpleasant and depressing to be in bed for 15 hours, while taking theses meds, then getting up and being in a fog. I had to change neurologists, I complained about side effects and he said keep taking the meds and gave me more meds, spent maybe 5 or 10 minutes with me. I fell 9 times in a year., he did not even respond.
Even after 15 hours in bed, Somewhere in the day had to take one or two naps. I do my best to exercise 4 times a week and I eat well.

More research please.

Dr. Berkowski, do any patients have worsening circadian rhythm with use of Neupro? My REM sleep is less and at least twice per week I am awake at 4am despite taking Trazodone and Lunesta at 9:30 pm and in bed at 10.
