The US military did a study years ago on how accurate rifle fire had to be to produce casulties (or something along those lines) and what they discovered was that the marksmanship capabilities of the shooter had less to do with causing casualties than how long the person who became a casualty exposed themselves to fire. That is one reason why Individual Movement Techniques (e.g. "I'm up, they see me, I'm down" and high-crawl/low-crawl) are emphasized so much in training.

I don't know if people can truly appreciate what it's like firing live rifle rounds at another human being, while simultaneously dodging incoming bullets as well... people think it's like a video game.. one.. just ONE of those bullets hits you and your life is permanently altered, or ended. Respect to any soldier that is called to fight.
