Predicting England’s starting 11 for the 2022 Qatar World Cup. We think south gate will use a back 5 but would prefer a back four with ramsdale, trippier, Ben white, John stones, Luke Shaw, Bellingham, Declan rice, James Maddison, bukayo saka, sterling and Harry Kane but will likely see players like Harry Maguire and Dier get introduced into the defense.

Cannot believe how overlooked trent is all the time. The guys been the best right back in the world for the past 3/4 seasons. He’s been out of touch this season DUE TO THE PEOPLE INFRONT OF HIM (not covering). He’s never put a foot wrong and defended very well when starting for england. Even though TAA is nowhere near his best form I truly believe the quality he brings in attack with his iq sublime crossing and great passing vision paired with the lethal finishing of Kane should be enough for him to start .

Why is everyone saying he uses a back 5. He doesn't....Southgate typically uses a 3-5-2 which doesn't work due to the LW and RW respectively having so many jobs to do in that formations. If he commited to a back 5 with Reece James/Trent at RB/RWB and Shaw on the left it would work and he could drop them into a 5-3-2 hold those 2 on the halfway line while the 3 central midfielders rush up for support on the wings and 2 in the centre the defence comes to halfway line with Trent and Shaw to keep a straight 5 back while having 5 upfront doing attacking work. They lose the ball theve got a full backline at the ready and if they need to play it back you've got 5 options. 2 of which are incredible talent Wingbacks who can pick out a longball placement like their chossing what their favorite food is.
