A new PT-6 engine can cost in excess of $300, 000. I work for a shop where we repair them. Once we had a jack fail and drop one. Largely unscathed spare for what's called the 'chip detector' on the forward underside, it still cost us $150, 000 to have it sent to Pratt & Whitney to have it inspected and recertified!
