Sound on GT Sport is closer to the reality than ProjectCARS 2, absolutely. All those complainers about vacum sound should hear this comparison. It's easy to judge and comment but the veredict is that more than 95% of comments on these gameplay videos are from people who never drove a real competition car. Well in this is car the sound is better in GTS than on PC2.
Also, the best camera is on PC2, Polyphony should improve this on GTS. GTS is too much soft.
Both should implement other details as: dirt on the windshield, windshield wipers shaking.

The clashing of the PCars and GT fanbase is wonderful. I, the lowly RF2 player, have not much to say :P

As far as I can tell, GTS certainly seems to have nicer shadows. On the flip side, PCars does a far better job communicating the violence of driving a race car. GT just feels way too tame.

Sound, GTS has improved a lot, so kudos on that. They have made it at the very least competitive. However, I feel PCars is better as it communicates the rawness you hear in the real video far better.

But as an RF2 player, my largest concern is the wheel inputs. The wheel input in PCars looks far closer to that of the real video than GTS. Maybe GTS is being played on a gamepad in this case or has some assists? Hard to tell how realistic they are without driving each, but that would be a red flag on GTS's part imo.

Overall, not sure you can say anyone wins, I have the sneaking suspicion these games aren't trying to appeal to the same audience...

GTS sounds closer to real life but is a bit "digital". Project Cars 2 is way off from real life but sounds more "raw" and better to the ear.

I ll buy real life for physics, Gts for graphics and PC2 for sound

They need to account for the engine sound when the car bounces along with a dynamic wind sound of the chassis cutting through the air at higher speeds(turbulence). Also dynamic mirror vibration or even car vibration. Driver bounce/movement physics as well. Then we need VXGI(voxel global illumination) for the best lighting/graphics....etc etc....
We also need to hook up an RC controller(both steering wheel and gamepad options) to a real full size race car and compare how it is to play vs the game physics. Of course this means you need to have a 3d cockpit camera including fake arms so you can use your VR set to drive the real car. Now give this VR setup to a sim racer and tell them it is the next gen racer being developed. Would be funny for a seasoned sim racer to say the real life car has crap physics.

XD downshifting in gts sounds like you were smashing something on your desk

Is me or does real life graphics look like last gen? Framerate on real life doesn't seem to be 60fps. Hopefully, this is not the final version of real life. I've already pre-ordered real life anyway. can't wait.

I comment as a player who has finished all professional GT series, I do not take sides.
It's too bad we can not catch the truth when there's all kinds of equipment.
The GTS could not catch that sound, which aroused a racer in any series.
The GTS is close to reality, but it is very plain and digital and it does not feel exactly like the real motor voice,
When the gears are piercing the human's ear, the engine sound remains very passive, so it does not reflect the excitement and adrenalin of the race.
The PC2 sound is a bit exaggerated, but it gives a real motor feel and reflects the excitement and adrenalin in the race.
In reality and in racing games, the engine sound driver is the most exciting sound.
For this reason, if PC2 was not exaggerated, I definitely decided to PC2.
As a result, GTS and PC2 could not be fully captured, but PC2 was close.
2 serialized PC2 is a success in that it attaches importance to the approaching of such a motor voice as a simulation game.

Yes, GT cars really sound like vacuum cleaners from the cockpit.
Making the sound more raw and violent is not more realistic.

Screw the debating im getting both games LOL.

Project CARS 2 clearly uses a placeholder sound though. It's so obvious. The GT-R Nismo road car uses the exact same sound. GT Sport sounds better, as in more accurate, until Project CARS 2 releases a new sound.

Project cars 2 sound is just out of this world. I’d say better than real life lol. Just missing the gear box whine

Gt sport and Pc2 did wrong on the sounding! The real sound of the GT3 version isn't as metallic as the normal GTR. GT Sport and pc2 just put the normal GTR's sound. But GT Sport did a good job on the clutch while Pc2 did it completely wrong... We can't even hear the particular sound of the GTR GT3's clutch in pc2

Real life has shitty graphics and sound.

the whole sound image is completely wrong in this pcars2 vid. My main gripes with pcars 1-2 is the over loudness of engines of cars around you as well as your own car engine, nothing else can be heard. lacking gear, body give, wing noise (gravel, stones) and of course wind.

GT sounds much closer to the real thing but lacks the grittiness.

In terms of track graphics; I think the track detail is way more accurate in GT. PC2 is missing a lot of details. In terms of movement of the car on the track both get zero, neither game has that level of detail, it's just not there.

Project CARS 2 car sounds are still pure shit, but served with a better spice.
Masses with bad quality sound equipment will probably falsely praise it, it works kinda similar like most of the pop music's mastering these days ("made for the masses for cheap/bad sound equipment").
Gran Turismo Sport however, surprised me very much, the sound there is very clear and rich of details, everything around the listener is nicely separated in space and the recordings seem of very good quality. It seems like they really started to care about sound quality this time, probably hired some dedicated sound engineers, bought good quality microphones? This could be a real breakthrough in the franchise.

That's really sad how people in the comments praise the PC2 sound. Please buy better sound equipment, so that you can hear the difference - PC2 sounds almost exactly like someone spitting right into the microphone, with other details buried in the background... Slightly Mad Studios clearly took another shortcut here, just like in Project CARS 1. They are doing the same over and over again since Shift 1 and I think they will never learn.
