In this short, we explore the "worm in waiting" events, objectively the best event chain in the entire game.

I role played a bit with the story as when you choose to fight the worm you don’t get a chance to change your mind

I also wanted to clear up any confusion if you chose to fight the worm you will not get another chance to accept it. I only added that so that we could see what would have happened if we had accepted it in the first place.

This event is one of my favorites and so damn creepy. Definitely better when you do it yourself. So much happens with this event a short has a hard time really capturing it.

For anyone curious and from an older version (no idea if / how much has chaged)

You can get a signal from a black hole, analyze it and get the messages "what was shall be what shall be was" a long series of events play out. You colonize planets that already have remnants of your civilization on it. But they're not old or badly decrepit, they're new and have a manifest of the same colonists that just arrived. You find a temple on your home world long buried but prestine as if new full of symbols of a oriboros and phrases that tranlate to "what was shall be and what shall be was". Your history seems to have been changed or the recorded history was never true to begin with. Your scientists uncover a primitive being inside a capsule, testing unveiles it is a distant ancestors of your people. Back when your people were more primitive, agressive, and different. You get more events that all lead to the same conclusions and phrases. What was shall be and what shall be was. Another signal from the black hole. The worm it loves you all you must do is love it too. It greets you and welcomes you. And if you accept its love. Your people are transformed into their "old" form. Your star dies, your worlds wither away, but your people remain, transformed, fully capable of living on tomb worlds. All actions lead to a loop a never ending cycle of a serpent, a worm, eating its own tail. For what was, shall be. And what shall be was.

It turned my worlds into tomb worlds, but it altered their genetics so they could live on tomb worlds too.

This is some "Grade A" cosmic horror right here.

I got this a few weeks ago. The species gains Tomb World habitability, and all non-gas giant planets in your home system become Tomb Worlds.

The kicker? It also turns non-terraformable planets into Tomb Worlds. And since my home system spawned as a Trinary, that meant i had something along the range of 10-15 new planets to colonize. Including a lovely Size 25 and a Size 30, since the game generated those with the assumption that they would never be colonized.

The Worm did indeed love me.

I hazily remember this event ending shortly after the colonies events with "What was shall be", I was blown away back then as I didn't expect it to be connected to the signals from the black hole.

Great to see it had an update or just more of it that I didn't know about

I did this with the galactic market in my system, so the poor merchants and bureaucrats just saw the sun they were orbiting implode with zero context
