I believe that the reason Doom choose Spiderman was because of his spider sense. That combined with the mystic arts would give him the ability to challenge others who have studied for years. Remember, there are stories where his spider sense is honed to almost precognition levels.

10:22 I disagree with you here Rob, that we should assume that Doom downloaded Peter's undertanding of how to use his new capabilities without study. Rather, I think this is part of the reason Doom found Peter uniquely qualified for this task. It's part of his intuitive spider sense. Just like Peter was able to intuitively fight and respond with incredible physical reflex without training due to his mutation, I also think the same could be said about his ability to intuitively use his newly acquired mystical powers. His spider sense is allowing him to react and utilize his new capabilities without having to take the time to study. This seems like part of the reason Doom chose spiderman for this particular mission. He didn't have the time to train someone for years. He needed someone whp could be instantly capable. Another really cool aspect to Peter's character.
