Yeah it's totally possible
I always thought that making a film about the charachters would be too difficult to make (a web serie could wortk tho)
But a slice of life style would be better for two reason I think
1- As you said, they don't have to get all the lore and stuff right (especially as it change often with reworks and stuff)
2- It would be a better promotional support, as it would be easier to acces by people who don't play the game (and then would want to play the game that the charachters are playing)
So yeah, I think you're 100% right
And I'm sure you will find something to continue to make "if league was an anime" except if you don't really want to do more (which is totally fine)
