WHY RECRUITERS HATE YOUR RESUME (AND HOW TO MAKE THEM LOVE IT)

If you want the inside scoop on what real-life recruiters hate (and love) about your resume, you just need to ask them.

This video is a culmination of years of listening to recruiter complaints (and praise) about the resumes they receive.

Over the years of working with and collaborating with recruiters, I’ve learned quite a bit about what resumes grab, and keep, their attention, as well as what resumes end up getting quickly rejected.

These same insights have often challenged my previous thinking, and ultimately help me serve my own clients more effectively.

This isn’t a video about fixing your resume to make it more “ATS-friendly.” If you’ve watched even just a few of my videos, you’ll know that I stress audience-friendliness over ATS-friendliness all day, every day.

Because ultimately, it’s your audience, the recruiters and hiring managers reading your resumes, who make the hiring decisions. Not some file management software.

Thank you for your video. I have a question about the keywords like the Detail Oriented one. Most of the time, these keywords are mentioned on the job offer, and we are told all the time that we need to add the keywords from the offer on our resume, because of the ATS programs that will filter those words. How do we know when the company doesn't use this technology? Thank you.

If we write keyword in our polite way, then ATS will not track it, mostly all recruits wants 80% ATS match resume.
