For number 2, sometimes it is the recruiter who sets the communication expectation. I worked with a recruiter who kept telling me "I'll have an update tomorrow" then I would wait a few days and he would say the same thing. Well, if you don't want me to keep following up, then don't tell me you'll get back to me tomorrow...I was just following your prompt!
