I looked up PRS Vs. Les Paul tone comparison, and you're one of the only guys to use a PRS with a wraparound bridge! Thank you

Ethically the PRS is superior, in regards to supporting a manufacturer.

Great post Johan! I've been playing PRS for ten years now so the mid-hump of the McCarty pickups tone is the sound of home for me, but I must admit I did like the DiMarzio PAF tone too. having less mids really gave the DiMarzio a more open tone more like the tone the PRS 58/15LTs in my McCarty 594 produce. Great video, keep them coming sir.

Wow, that little thing at about 3&1/2 really shows the fullness of the PRS. I got a 58 CS reissue LP with BB 1&2 and a PRS sunburst 22 with the original less hot 57/08's. The sunburst 22's only ran 1 year, have nitro finish, (very thin), And I really prefer the PRS. Tho the Gibson does have that old LP tone. But I've never been one to have to copy others tone. I'm me and want my tone. Great comparison.

Sweet comparison Johan! Nice work as always... I usually prefer PRS, but I like the LP here. I mean both sound great (especially in your hands) but the LP sounds just a hair sweeter to my ears than the PRS. Thanks for posting!

When played clean at around 5:18, I think the Gibson was sounding more open. With overdrive and further into distortion, they are pretty equal. Both produce totally usable tones.

I prefer the Les Paul. More variety of tone. Plus, ever since i was about 10, I have lusted over Les Pauls. Can't say I've ever lusted over a PRS...

Both guitars sound like a JCM800 combo. Amp wins this round !!!

Back in 1990 I had two PRS's, a Custom & a Standard. Both had a Tune-o-Matic bridge & Stoptail. The Standard was actually the better sounding guitar being solid Mahogany. I could never get the neck pickups to sound right as the 24th fret was where the neck pickup should be. Paul even sent me a box of different PRS pickups to try in the neck. I ended up with original Gibson PAF's in the neck spots. Back then PAF's were about $250.-$400. each. After the long Honeymoon period with both I bought a 1959 Les Paul Special and sold the Custom and converted the Standard to a goldtop with P-90's and wrapover tailpiece. I did get a very early Custom 22 which I played for a long time. Everytime I thought I found a useable PRS, I ended up going back to a Gibson cause I find the tone/sound more liking to my ears/brain. The PRS's always played really great but the Gibson'sI have just suit what I like to hear more. The Custom 22 did have a special set of McCarty pickups that Paul gave me and those were scary close in sound/tone to some original PAF's I've owned/played. But with 4 old Gibson's and 3 Historic's (upgraded by Historic Makeovers) and a couple of Firebird's & ES-335's. I'm set.. I will say that having known Paul Smith for 30 years, I truly admire and respect him as a human and a guitar builder and he's one of the nicest guys ever!
Thanks for the comparison Johan!

Johan !! I actually NEEDED to see this comparison! You just saved me a lot of time. Although at the price point they both command...you'd expect both to sound very good...and they do. I give it a tie. So, IMHO ....I didn't find the PRS substantially better.

Own a really good Les Paul and you never let it go. Own a PRS and you just don't get that attached because you can just go and buy another that will be just as good. You can spot flaws in Les Pauls quite often and some are shockingly bad. I am always impressed with every PRS I pick up. I own both and love both but a PRS is the superior instrument in my opinion.

This is a fantastic channel. Absolutely the best gear demonstrations I have ever seen. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into educating and entertaining all of us. It is truly appreciated. \m/

Very beautiful tones from both guitars! Also, beautiful playing and riffs as always

I prefer the sound of the Les Paul but is it really a fair comparison since the Les Paul has DiMarzio pickups and the PRS has stock pickups? I think it would be more fair if the Les Paul had whatever stock pickups it came with.

Love your videos, you come up with comparisons that everybody wants to hear...your just like us, but with a lot more toys,

Those Les Pauls just have a certain depth and thickness to them I love. The PRS sounded really good too.

great comparison....I have a 2001 PRS McCarty with a full rosewood neck...and several Les them all. In my experience, my PRS sounds brighter and it does change more than the Gibsons with different amps. Excellent work Johan....thx!!

I remember I critiqued your amp tones in all the videos a couple of months back. I don't know if my ears have changed or what, but you hit some inspiring tones here. The PRS through the JCM was ear porn. Lovely!
