For those who don’t understand…
(I googled this so feel free to correct me if I’m wrong)
A Layman is an individual (a member of a church) that is not ordained. One reason they might be refusing to ask for forgiveness is possibly pride and not wanting to look bad. Or another possibility is that they are just generally trying to avoid their responsibilities (possibly lazy?)

A layman is an individual who does not want to ask for forgivness or do certain things because they will look bad for doing it or they are just lazy and avoiding it with their own will

I don't go to church anymore but i still believe in god and jesus i don't go because the church does more worldy stuff or they make you do stuff in order to stay in the church but i go sometimes just not often but that doesn't mean i don't believe in him!🙏🏻🙏🏻
