Also when we once did the same thing you are doing with the fence and plants we put down a sheet of black plastic and ran it up the fence approximately 6 in and stabled, to protect the wood, any that came in contact with water, soil.

The planter boxes they have on sale at Aldis here in Tennessee this week. I saw Jammerial (sp) got some and I scoped them out and they are nice!!
