Crystal Dynamics Demands Patreon to Remove Leaked Tomb Raider Script

Crystal Dynamics has filed a DMCA request via Patreon to "Last Stand Media" after hosts on one of its podcasts read out a script which is reportedly being used to cast actors for the next Tomb Raider game.

Hope they go back to the roots and have us deep underground running through tunnels and obstacles and way way way better puzzles than the last couple. Don't get me wrong the last couple TR games looked good but it was to easy and they tried to do what everyone else does and that's open world. Open world is ok to a point but if they take notes from the first two TR games and run with that we should be good. Thanks for the heads up man.

The very idea that Lara is a lonely person who needs to be with someone romantically is stupid. Lara Croft is all about the thrill of adventure and exploration. To turn her into some lonely person who needs companionship takes away from who her character is. Lara has friends all over, she doesn't need a love interest or even a group of young explorers. It's the family drama type bs still lingering. They need to go back to the roots of what made the franchise so great and leave it at that. Give us the dual pistols and one hell of an adventure. That's all we want

Lara liking girls seems weird. I have no problem with the LGBTQ community or same sex, but Lara Croft doesn’t seem like the type to… one fall in love, second with a girl. Let alone with a male. She never showed any interest in the men or women through out all her games either.
It might be time to let Lara Croft go forever than to be doing this to her. If we can’t have classic Lara or remastered versions of the classics then we don’t need anything. if this the path they choose, we either fight to make a change or deal with it. Or simply move on keeping classic Lara in hearts infinite ♾.

They already ruined the character once with that new trilogy. Please bring our original Lara back ! Or make a great remake of TR2 TR3 and TR4. Square enix wouldn't care what tomb raider or crystal dynamics does in this situations as they no longer own the rights, Embracer games owns all 3 studios involved with tomb raider now along with the actual IP rights. SE sold them for 300 million.

My question is: If they have a script ready, why did they very recently hire professional writers? I mean like weeks ago? I think they still have more open spots for writers. I don't know what process video game writing go. So I invite anyone to explain this to me. But if parts or all of the script is true, I hope they will make changes to please the original fans. Again, while I understand that people don't like the idea of another reboot, the leak makes it sound like this is Survivor Lara wearing the classic outfit and having gone on the same adventures as Classic and Legend Lara. I'm not into that. (Again because Survivor Lara and Classic/Legend Lara are not the same Lara. They don't have the same personality and ambitions.) I do like the idea of Lara traveling to India, though. A lot of people are saying that it's the leaked location. I think India has a lot of potentials. Just as long as the game completely honors the previous popular games and stops trying to be more like Uncharted.

In my opinion, the leaks about the actual story scenes. Read more as dialogue that the actors would use during the audition. As in one scene it was more emotional and the other was a high octane action scene. I would assume it’s to gauge the actors acting capacity!

I do wish that the story's already completed and they'd better be in an advanced state of development already, because this year marks the 5 year "anniversary" of a Tomb Raider-less year :( guys we need content!

Still holding out hope that this leak was nothing but misleading info that they DMCA'd just to avoid forming of false narratives around the next game.
I literally didnt like a single thing in that leak, it felt like a complete antithesis to what fans have been pleading Crystal to do with a post-survivor TR game.

I have zero hope for the next TR if Crystal has full control of developing the game. We know they hate classic Lara and it’s all about pushing their own political agenda… classic fans want the power fantasy, feminine, curvy, sassy, witty, adventurous, asexual and loner adventurer that is supposed to be!! Instead what we get after each game by CD is the next door, watered down, scared, emotional and androgynous looking type with supporting character/s.
Sure it’s gonna be a pretty looking game graphically on UE5 but it’ll probably be Shadow on steroid with lame and luck luster storyline focused on drama, more woke stuff to cater to casual and younger audience and a bunch of meaningless unlockables.
