A bright flash of gamma rays from the constellation Boötes that lasted nearly one minute came from a kilonova and it's challenging what astronomers know about some of the most powerful events in the universe.

Why in the world would all three gravitational wave detectors be offline at the same time yes it's nice to have three going so you can zero-in on the direction of the event but it's still good to have one going so you can detect the event
