The buff of allowing smoke and torpedo RB changed the value of this ship. Very solid now. And keep in mind, running the black lacquer on any Japanese ship gives you 10% extra xp, serious.🤨🤨

The timing of this video is pretty much perfect because I was considering getting Hayate just yesterday. I love playing Grozovoi but I don't feel like farming other hybrid DDs right now. Hayate looks solid and somewhat similar

Good video PQ. I normally have a gun build on my Hayate for Randoms. But in Clan Battles I switch in Yamamoto with a full torp build. With that build you´re right, I thought of my Hayate as an IJN Gearing in the past as well.

I have one. It's a good ship. The lack of concealment feels awkward though. There is just so much radar, planes, stealth DDs, gunboat DDs at tier 10. And while the guns are definitely decent, it is a torpedo boat. In certain ways it feels like a Halland to me. Bigger torps, but slower torps. Slower reload, but reload booster. Does have better guns than Halland & it has smoke. So I actually think it's better than a Halland, unless you're in love with Halland AA.
I do still find myself playing Shima more often though.

The nice thing about Hayate that it makes excellent use as a captain trainer. Grinding up the Shima line, use torpboat modules and tada, solid ship. Grinding up the Haru line, use gunboat modules and tada, solid ship. Is it the best at either role? No, but it does have the flexibility to do well in either role.

Finally the coal series is back. Don’t think I’ll finish before 2024 lol. Notes on the hayate, how good its main armaments are, the concealment and maneuverability really hold it back and over all make it a pretty mid destroyer. Making this a torp boat is also weird with 6.9 base detect I believe.

On The Legends version Of WoWS, Hayate is probably my favorite DD to play. On Legends you have to choose smoke screen or Torp reload booster. I play the reload booster, becasue Nobody on Legends expects a second set of torps inbound after you've already launched a set. This is especially true against Radar Cruisers up close around islands. Hayate is also very rare on Legends, not many people have it, let alone play with the TRB instead of smoke

Usually when I launch torps, I’ll stack the 2 spreads into each other so that the gaps between then are small enough that they can’t just turn in to dodge easily, but you need the balls to be fine missing all of them if you aim bad

I still say that Jager should have been Tier 10 vs 9... She would have been a blast in Clan Battles, and as you say, there is just not any decent torp DD's in the Coal Armoury. I did get Alvaro de Bazon as my first Coal Ship, because it seemed to have a lot of advantages, even if you have to pump all those points into torps. But then I got Hayate last year, and ya, prior planning the double wave of torps seriously obliterates BBs on down. You just have to be in that danger close launching ranges because of the torp lack of concealment.

What is the current Meta? When I play, the current Meta is usually Tier X or Supership BBs sitting in the back and sniping with their 3 zip code dispersion. Or is it those same BBs sitting behind a rock 20KMs from the caps cussing at the DDs to go spot? No, I actually think the Meta is when DDs are spotting an entire flank, those same BBs never shoot in fear they may take damage. IMO, BB play is totally dead and they are worthless. WG doesn’t allow a dead person to ping the map. This game is utter toxic and WG should implement if you die in battle, you can’t chat. It’s always the dead that end up yelling and cussing in the game. If this game and the stats are going on your resume…….I feel sorry for you people.

Got my Hayate back during the FXP days. Back then had to chose between smoke and reload booster. Was much harder to play. But with the buff allowing for smoke and reload booster, it has become one of my favorite DDs to play. Maybe 2nd to Kitakaze and Benham a close 3rd. It sits in that nice niche of guns and torps.
