It is awesome that I found this series, but no other tutorial on youtube talks about this. They all saw to compensate by adjusting the aim of the cue ball

this has been easily the best of the best pieces of advice I've ever come across.

Here are the differences between a college student's explanation and that of a doctor. I am so enjoying your YouTube videos that I recently found. Your explanations make so much sense unlike those I've seen on other channels. Thank you very much for researching these questions for us.

Wow! I've read all of Byrne's books and never came across this one. Thank you!

I´d say, without knowing anything about the pivot lenght before, that you automatically get to know this point by playing with your cue! I checked it out and it was the same thing I'm doing all the time before right out of my habit just by knowing how my cue reacts.

Dr. Dave, Robert Byrne gave me foundation, but since his time, the information you purvey is unparalleled in scope and integrity. And thus my ground is compounded and pressed down. I am practicing the shots and thinks it's magic -- practice until proficient! No more adjusting my English Shots ... how cool is that!     If you will indulge, how /what the advantages of a 12.5/12.75 vs 13 mm tip?     (You are the best!)

This is a great video.
I’m a little confused about why the natural pivot length is different for different cues.
Why is it not simply based on where you grip the cue with your back hand?

mr dave i really admire your simple explanation in teaching pool via youtube and it is helping my game am facinated with the mechanics of pool now my question is with longer and slower shots which we are suppose to use FHE what if BHE was use instead what would be the effect and what are the disadvantages

Dave, through your experience and experiments, are you doing able to give the % change in deflection seen due to a ferrule length? Even if it’s an estimate I would like to know what you’ve seen to be the difference in deflection between say two solid maple shafts one with a longer ferrule and one with a shorter ferrule

Dr Dave, I have a question about pivot length. I was reading on your site tip shape increases the pivot length would a bigger tip size also increase the pivot length if you theoretically weren’t adding any additional end mass?

Can we use any bridge length for BHE and FHE, but the pivot must be done at the correct pivot point and grip point? How can we determine FHE pivot point?

Hi Dave,

As an average pool player, I have perhaps a silly question - so far I have heard that when using BHE the potting angle more or less corrects itself, but with FHE you have to manually correct for that. Can you please confirm whether my understanding is correct and whether when using FHE you indeed did not aim straight or if I made a mistake here?

Thank yo and cheers!

Dave, I've noticed that you previously shot with a Z-shaft and now shoot with a Revo--both extremely low-deflection shafts. Do you ever use BHE with those shafts given the long pivot points, or do you use parallel english?

Doctor, how can i take a class with you? Do you have a regular class schedule? I am a doer I never could comprehend directions via audio or visual. I have to be shown and actually practice. I have played for well over 40 years, and still play average at best though now that I play about 5 days a week average I do see an improvement but really want to take formal lessons. Nice video as usual too bad I cannot figure it out.

Dr.dave when I line up a side pocket shot about 3 ft away my bridge length is so short I hate it. Can you explain what I have to do to get the same results but with a longer bridge length. Here is what gets me, I do not really understand why we just cannot use a longer length from the start. I seen where you start out with a short bridge then slide your hand back I don’t understand how the ball knows or even care what we’re doing. If I start out with the longer length I miss the shot. I need some easy explaining. Thank you Dr. Dave.

Dr. Dave.. I've been experimenting with the BHE that I've learned from your videos and it's working well for me. The FHE, not so much. I can't seem to pivot consistently. I've sorta developed a system to give me a similar effect to FHE though. What I've been doing is when I'm shooting the longer and slower shot where swerve and throw are more of a factor, I lengthen my bridge a few inches and use BHE instead. I find that this reduces the amount of compensation applied and is petty accurate. What do you think of this? Thanks Dr. Dave.

I saw a film of me stroking the cue and I have elbow drop. Is there anything I can buy like a training devise that will help me eliminate the drop. I noticed the drop makes your tip rise which must go. Thanks Stephen
