Don’t get me started on refrigerators specifically made for kimchi…

Like we indians keep pickles 😅. One big container in which it is made, a small one to take out every now and then, and a smaller jar/bowl on the table.

Also most of the times, Level 1 has uncut 1/4 cabbage of kimchi so gotta slice them to bite size and put in Tupperware

I actually prefer the Korean way of plating and putting everything on the table because it is so much more of a feast for the eyes is a feast for every smell not being just pushed together on one plate

MC-"Felix, what is your favourite banchan?"
Felix-"Bangchan hyung!"

I'm Korean born and raised. That cylinder shaped jar is not Kimchi's true home(i hardly saw it until i moved to the states), but that rectangular tupperware is. Because most Korean households store kimchi in a Kimchi fridge (it's a real thing) and the fridge comes with a lot of those tupperware

I have massive appreciation for the person who does the dishes in Korean households😂❤

I am not Korean but I eat kimchi and I naturally gravitated towards this system. I once had a Korean roommate, though, and he would often have the small plate on the counter outside the fridge to get more fermenty before eating it.
Korean food is shockingly delicious.

I had a half Korean Boyfriend in high school and this reminded me SO much of his mom! She is full Korean and would plate everything separately and I just thought of it as like a “potluck style”. I didn’t know this was common for your guys’ culture! I wish I could have learned more from her before I broke up with her son. She was so cool :’)

I am from India, and this is similar to how we do in my and my husband’s families with Aavakay (AKA Indian pickle (Achar in Hindi)). One difference, First level: big container in which it’s made, second level: another big container in which it is stored and third level: a small container in which it is transferred for daily use.
