OVERRATED CITIES IN EUROPE & Where to go instead #europetravel

These are some of my least favorite cities in Europe and some of my favorite alternatives!

Don’t be afraid, it’s just an opinion 😅 I realize that it’s very well possible to have a wonderful experience in these cities. It just didn’t happen for me.

Let’s try to keep it clean in the comments for once 😂

Try to convince me with arguments why you think im wrong, instead of just calling me names. If you do decide to call me names, then try to think of something original! 😂

Also, these cities that im saying are overrated… I do think you should visit them at least once in your life.

Trieste is, in my opinion, a beautiful city, but let’s be real: Venice is one of a kind, how can you think it’s overrated. It’absolutely beautiful

I recently visited Paris about 3 weeks back and I had a very negative opinion about it because of social media posts. But once I saw it myself I found it to be clean and beautiful. Maybe it was because of Olympics or whatever. So moral of the story: Social media may not always tell you the complete truth

they're overcrowded, not overrated. The only one on the list I still miss is Bruges, I hope to go next year

The Haarlem instead of Amsterdam is actually mental, because they're 15 minutes apart and you can just see both in the same day lmao

Come on, Venice is not even a city, it's a dream

Im from Toulouse, i love my city so much, but 2 days are enough. Paris is just another level, it deserves a full 10 days as there are so much to see

as someone from haarlem, please do know that it’s INCREDIBLY small. at least, the main city centre. i’d also highly recommend visiting utrecht, though that city is definitely a bit more touristy!

Trieste and Venice are literally 2 hours apart, you can do both

Basically name all the most touristic cities in Europe and instead chose a smaller one.
How original. I could do the same for any country on Earth.

Wanna go to Turkey ? Chose Izmir over Istanbul. Germany ? Better Munich than Berlin. Poland ? Cracow and not Warsaw. So on and so on. What's the point of this ?

Just make a list of nice destinations. No need to create an artificial comparaison with touristic cities; you don't look for the same things in Paris and Toulouse, or in Venice and Naples.

The chaos is caused by tourism. Also by people walking around with a <selfie-stick > in their hands.

Barcelona? Barcelona is stunning. The city looks exactly the same in real life as in the pictures on the Internet. I recommend visiting it!

Edit: to all the guys that commented BCN is "shitty", where do u guys live omg 😭 I'm from Eastern Europe, but I've traveled here and there, and still think Barcelona is gorgeous. The people too!

Venice is mostly touristy on the main loop. Walk one or two streets off the beaten path and you discover quiet corners and the more lived in parts of the city.
I had so much fun just wandering and getting lost. It's the only city where instead of meeting dead ends (ie. a wall) I'd repeatedly be meet with water. In my imagination I figured there'd normally be a walkway along the water. Nope. Often the street just ends and you have to back track or get a boat.
It's touristy for a reason. It's remarkable. But like I say, get away from the herd who just visit for a day and hit the same 3 or 4 spots. Take time to soak it up.

Paris has issues but there is absolutely no comparing Paris with Toulouse! They aren't even on the same scale imo.

Amsterdam is gorgeous bruv and the public transportation is so seamlessly good that you can move however you want. Not overrated

I am literally in Venice right now on a birthday trip, and what i have seen in the last 2 days has astounded me. It is astonishingly beautiful, every local you see is a walking caricature.
You need to see it at least once.

I don't think these places are overrated they just have mass tourism and being in the lesser known towns and cities can be much more fulfilling at times. But Paris is Paris, history, beauty and there are lesser known areas that are are quite attractive in the big cities too The trick is to go when there are less people out of the mad mass holiday season. This is not always possible, but that's the only choice you have.

99% of tourists go to the same 10% of Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Barcelona and so on. Take a Bus and drive 3-4 Stops.

Yes! I am from Spain and every time people tell me they want to go to Barcelona or Madrid, I always say no! Because Spain has so much beauty in the south, north and everywhere else besides those two cities! Even the islands Canarias and Baleares are beautiful!!!
