this is an amazing in depth review of a sexy, masculine, lost gem fragrance!

on my table sitting in front of me is a 5ml bottle of boss spirit. my parents took their decant/sample collection and asked me to pick out some to keep before they threw it all away! shame that most were expired and gone bad, but one of the only ones that still smelled smooth was this bottle. i am lucky that i kept it.

back when that happened, i was not as into perfumes as i am now. but i am REALLY thankful that i kept this bottle. aromatic, earthy and spicy. what an absolute GEM of a fragrance!

i’m trying to keep this bottle going for as long as possible and only wearing for special occasions. all hail boss spirit!

Ramsey your ability to describe and explain so eloquently always amazes me. I doubt I'll ever get to try this but I'll set my sights on dali.

Most of my fragrance journey has been spent collecting designers and niche. Only these past few months have I been exploring the wonders of vintage. It's true you can get quality and craftsmanship in niche but a lot of it is smoke and mirrors as the duck says. I look forward to trying more and more vintage. I just picked up Bijan for men, maxim pour homme and smalto pour homme.

What an in depth review/analysis of a fragrance that was simply at the wrong place, at the wrong time. I was there at that time and my only experience with Hugo Boss was Boss. I remember taking some off my graduation money in 1985 and purchasing a bottle of this new, crazy good fragrance which for an 18yr. old was a lot of money lol! Then a few years later here comes another offering from this same company and the minute I smelled it I loved it! It was fresh, grown up, a true YOUNG man's cologne and I had never smelled anything like it! It was miles away from the likes of Fahrenheit, JOOP!, Lauder for Men, etc., and I felt like I was very avante garde when I wore it. Then just as soon as it made the scene and seemed like it would most certainly claim the market of men's fragrances just like it's famous big brother BOSS had done mid decade, in stepped Eternity for Men, Kenzo Pour Homme, Egoiste, and the like ushering in a completely different smell and attitude towards what men's fragrances should be. There wasn't anything about these new fragrances that was even remotely connected to the 80s men's colognes that were now, more often than not, seen as "old fashioned". No, we were now in the 90s and everything was about steam rolling straight ahead to a new decade and a much anticipated new millennium which was out there on the horizon somewhere! The only men's fragrance that, imo, released in the early 90s that enjoyed huge success and still retained that 80s DNA was Photo... it was/is an absolutely, wonderful, classic Fougere (which you stated so correctly, Spirit is also) but Photo was stepping into the 90s at an acceptable pace. Sadly Spirit quickly fell into obscurity and was unjustly left in the 80s, almost. I absolutely love it and cherish my bottle which I use only on very special occasions or sometimes when I need it's uplifting notes to give my mood a much needed adjustment!!! Thanks for bringing some really amazing, albeit very rare fragrances out of the dark shadows and casting some much deserved love and appreciation their way! New sub here and glad of it!!
