I actually really like Berean Builders curriculum. My experience is that science is the intense subject that I actually sit with my individual students and read the book with them, I answer the questions WITH them, I am their lab partner, we study together and we take the tests together. When the tests came around, instead of memorizing the definition of the vocabulary words, we made sure that were were familiar enough with the words via flashcards. When test time came, if the tests required the definition of 8 words, we would blindly and randomly pick 8 words out of our flash card pile for that chapter, read the definition out loud, and answer what vocabulary word the definition belonged to. We found that to be much more time efficient than memorizing the definitions word for word.
It is an intense curriculum, but I really like it and I feel like we are definitely learning from it!

We are using this and are on the 4th chapter. My teens are really struggling with this and my oldest is spending hours trying to study for the test. The tests are extremely challenging. IMO I tub they are drowning the kids with more information than necessary and expecting them to just understand and memorize all of it. Looking at switching again

Started using the Discovering Design with Biology Last year and its pretty good. However, is their a designed student work book that's not only containing questions but rather facilitates the teaching process? Like the student work book for AP Biology...

I go back and forth about doing berean builders and apologia. Have you tried apologia? Wondering how they compare and why you went with BB?
