Does Leviticus mean homosexuality is an abomination

This video explains why Christians should not consider homosexuality an abomination because of Leviticus. The video first explains the context in which Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 were written: male temple prostitutes for pagan goddesses and pederasty. It then goes on to how Christians use Leviticus generally.

It also says in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 that those who practice homosexuality will not enter heaven. So your argument is null and void

2 Timothy 4:3
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

You are twisting the word of God for convenience. As a teacher you will be held accountable for this misleading instruction (James 3:1). Jesus came to uphold (fulfill) the law and not to eliminate it (Matthew 5:17). Gods plan is for men to be with women (Gen 2:24). Jesus confirms this in Matthew 19:4-5. Those who come to your video looking for affirmation of their sinful behavior will only find a life of sinfulness; not life as you describe it. But Jesus will forgive you and all types of sins if you repent (Luke 5:32). Outside of repentance there is no other way to forgiveness from God. Your logic may be the cause for many coming to your video to remain in sin and lose their souls to eternal damnation.

I am guilty of sin and do not say these things lightly or in condemnation but to share God’s gospel for the forgiveness of your sins.

But Leviticus 19:37 and Leviticus 20:22 say "Keep ALL my decrees and ALL my laws. If anyone uses Lev 18;22 and 20:13 to condemn homosexuality, they MUST obey every single Old Testament law. Paul said the same thing in Gal 3:10 "obey everything written in the Book of the Law and 5:3 "obey the WHOLE law". Thanks for your comments.

If we aren’t supposed to follow these laws why does Jesus say I have not come to do away with the old laws? I do believe some of the laws weren’t meant for us now but I don’t believe all the laws were dismissed.

I like how the speaker mentioned that Christians only ever use one verse from Leviticus, while ignoring the rest. If you ask me, it is plain hypocrisy.

I understand that I may not stand out amongst the rest of these comments but, I just want thank you for making these videos. You have helped me except myself for who I am and for who God made me be. Keep doing God’s work, thank you.

You didn't answer the question why the verse says "as with a women." To me that indicates he is speaking specifically to the act of sex a man does with a woman, not an abusive relationship and therefore a man shouldn't have sex with a man the way he has sex with a women. He does not mention the other relationships. And in Lev 20:23 God says he didn't like what the pagans did anyway so who cares what they were doing. God didn't like it and he didn't want His people doing it.

What part of abomination don’t you understand?

Jesus did not come to abolish the law, but to fullfill it. This doesn't change God's law.

Hello, Rev. Tallon. I have left a comment before, appreciating your thoughtful and well-researched videos, which you saw, and I’m joyful for the reply. What I comment about in this instance has to do with your claim of the mentioned verses in Leviticus being ceremonial laws, rather than moral (at 03:46). While Leviticus is vastly comprised of Jewish ceremonial laws meant for the purpose of separating ancient Jews from surrounding cultures (as you mentioned), I am still struggling with understanding whether or not Leviticus 18:22 and Leviticus 20:13 are ceremonial or moral laws about sexual immorality. Recently, I participated in a discussion about whether or not all of the laws in Leviticus are ceremonial, moral or a mixture of both, especially those that are sexual in nature (e.g. prohibitions on incest; Leviticus 18:6-17, etc). Leviticus 20:18 (this is the verse about a man not having intercourse with his wife while she is menstruating. A similar verse is Leviticus 18:19) is ceremonial, because—as you also mentioned—it no longer applies to modern Christians following Christ’s fulfilment of the Old Law (Matthew 5:17) with his perfect life and death on the cross. It also does not make sense to most Christians nowadays, and was, again, meant to separate Jews from the surrounding cultures (pagan practices took part in these often). Another law that is seemingly ceremonial but also continues to hold true in our lives today is about child sacrifice, Leviticus 18:21: "You shall not give any of your children to offer them to Molech, and so profane the name of your God: I am the LORD." This verse references Molech [i.e. Moloch], a pagan Canaanite god associated with child sacrifice by fire or war. If Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 are about pederasty, abuse, or prostitution which were common at the time, it would make sense for them to still be applicable today. However, as your videos state, other verses cover those issues. Your arguments are strong and I commend that, but again, it has come into question for me whether or not Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 are moral laws pertaining to sexual immorality, or simply ceremonial. Moreover, I guess that I am trying to inquire, "how are you so sure that it is ceremonial?" Perhaps I am not competent enough in my knowledge of the book of Leviticus, but whatever the matter, a careful and intelligent response to this would be wonderful.

Thank you for taking time to read this. I wish to get some answers, and I greatly appreciate this channel.

Your intentional twisting of God’s word makes you accessory to the damnation of all who are deceived by you. You should tremble. Unless you repent you will not be found guiltless before Almighty God, and the day of judgement will be a horrifying entrance into an eternity of torment for you.

“For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to truth.”

“There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other scriptures.”

Paul and Peter were referring to you. Repent and turn from your sin, and stop deceiving yourself and others. God is not mocked.

There is forgiveness with God in Jesus Christ for all who believe in Him, and repent and turn from their sin.

DAMN, Did it ever occur to you that " being put to death ", meant not having eternal life ? Its amazing how homosexuals try to justify their sickness as being normal .

What I find most difficult is that the people of the lgbtq community are born the way they are. Why then do we support things that discriminate against those people? I came to this video seeking knowledge because I know in my heart when something is wrong. I know that calling a homosexual relationship an abomination is wrong. So I am grateful that others feel the same and are researching the context of scripture. Because there are verses, at least to me, that rubs me the wrong way, therefore I search for answers. For example, 1 Timothy 2: 12, says "I do not let women teach men or have authority over them." Should we take this verse at face value and strengthen the patriarchy?? No, we should search the context and find answers through the lens of loving faith.
