Alex, Great question to ask of my man, "What do you think about me?" And, I would have to feel safe to ask it! I wish I had this question when I was with my ex. I was perpetually asking him, "Do you love me?" as we lay in bed at night, winding down for sleep. "Yes, I love you", would come the answer in the dark, as we snuggled down. Since his answer never felt satisfying to me, I would then ask, "Do you love me lots and lots, always and always, forever and ever, and bushels and bushel?" He would repeat this back to me and I would go to sleep somewhat satisfied. I am tearing up as I write this because this little ritual never scratched my deep itch for his love.

Since reading "The 5 Love Languages" by Gary Chapman, I realize that he expressed his love by doing things like working on my car. I grew to hate this because he would swear and stomp around when he did it. And, we had plenty of money to have a mechanic do it! I wondered why he would do it when he hated it so much! I did finally started telling him I would take care of my car myself. Since I had to learn what to do, I would ask him questions, so I would know what was possibly wrong when I took it to the mechanic and not get ripped off. He would go work on the car anyway! And stomp around swearing!! Consequently, l stopped asking him, and, found men at work to ask...no internet in those days! Since then, I have learned about how to sit down and ask why he got so upset and did he realize he did and why did he do it when we could afford to hire people? And, hoe to set boundaries. Lately, I have been wondering if his stomping and swearing was a way to get stroked from me. I did work on rewarding him for his work, by buying him a recliner, etcetera. I wish I had known about Harville Hendrix "Behavior Change Requests" way back then.

I love your videos but it's hard to apply sometimes because my guy suffers from moral injury and apparently he goes thru it every year and it causes him to feel numb.. so we broke up a couple of weeks ago. Mind you we haven't seen each other for two months because of his job. Some call it bs but his work does take him away and for odd hours at times. Saw him the first time last night when he gave me my key back (after I asked for it). When he walked in, he wasn't the guy I met. When he left, he seemed better but still distant. And the chemistry is still there lol. That we figured out when he was leaving. And he wants to be friends so so he knows how I'm doing and that I'm OK. Hi Alex I'm ok with learning to let it go. Its been almost a week since he went cold didnt even answer to my emoji saying hi 😏.it's also long distance.. He said he knew what he wanted and that was me. And to build a life with me. We talked about how this communication issue before..
