Having Venom be the lone symbiote wandering the earth in search of the others would make his change of heart much more reasonable too. Instead of Eddy being the one to change him, those six months could show him the sides of humanity worth saving, while Riot being probed and tortured in the lab during that time only makes him hate humans that much more.

The part about venom and riot switching parts on who escapes at the beginning is a great point. Best critique I've heard anyone say about this movie.
If venom was the one that moved around for 6 months nerds like me could have hoped that that's when he got on spidey for a while and they could have flashed back to that in a later movie when they get spiderman in the mix. Great vid

Edit: At 4:26 they missed a golden opportunity for a joke. They should've followed the line

with something like:
