Determine which quadrant and angle lies in radians in terms of pie - math help free

👉 Learn how to determine the quadrant of an angle given in radians. Recall that 1 radian is the distance on the circumference of the circle that is equivalent to the radius of the circle. Also, recall that the circumference of a circle is equivalent to 2pi radians.

To determine the quadrant of the angle in radians written in terms of pi, we divide the top half and the bottom half of the circumference of the circle into the number of parts corresponding to the denominator of the radian angle. Then we count from the positive x-axis in an anti-clockwise direction for positive angles and in the clockwise direction for negative angles the number of parts corresponding to the coefficient of pi in the numerator.

The quadrant where the number of parts corresponds to the coefficient of the pi in the numerator of radian angle is the required quadrant.

good question, it's all about estimation. Between the third and fourth quadrant is 3pi/2 and 2pi. Convert those to decimals and if 5.63 is between those two numbers then it's within the fourth quadrant.

You know what is the great part? That you don't use too much math vocabulary and you keep it my honors calc teacher does.

It's 2022, and this video explained it so well. I'm stuck on trig in my precal college class. The last time I did precal I was 15 and now I'm 20.

I was so confused cause the solution just straight up named the quadrant. Thank you so much for this explanation, cleared it all up for me!

Thanks for the technique for sketching the radians! My teacher didn't teacher this method, but it is easier to understand for me.

I understand this a lot better now, thank you. although, for the 22pie/10, would the reference angle be 2pie/10 or 22pie/10?

So much easier to understand when you break the fractions that way!! Thank you!

I'm taking pre calc online this year, and despite having an amazing teacher myself (she was a savior when my 9th grade algebra 2 teacher taught me nothing) she hasn't put out many resources for online kids, and we dont start video classes until next week
