DIY Rustic Barnwood Coffee Table

Sharon here, and today I'm going to show you how I transformed an old chicken coop door into a unique rustic coffee table DIY style using salvaged barnwood! Using only my imagination and some basic tools I bring this long abandoned farm building on Curtis's 8 Acre Picker's Paradise in Southern Illinois back to life! From picking and salvaging the wood, to cutting, sanding, constructing and finishing with Brushing Lacquer, you can watch this splintered, termite eaten door become a showpiece in the living room. With a Sawzall, table saw, miter saw, orbital sander, steel wool, sandpaper, lag screws, cordless drill and screwdriver, nut driver, wood screws, wood glue and lots of lacquer you can make a miracle happen!

Fantastic job, taking something old, worn out and what most people would say is no good, pure junk just burn it and creating a wonderful piece of furniture. Stay safe, be careful, take it easy and keep warm and dry.

Too much yacking and repetition in the beginning. The wood was too rough for your table project.

Neat project, beautiful outcome. Trimming the end to the batten was sensible since it was already notched. I think I would have removed the hinges from the top, pulled the pins and mounted a half vertically on each leg butting the top underside.

That's Great the boys love old rustic wood projects too. Last was an old round like farm attic window turn in to wall art. The Col. Would be proud to eat off it, does it come with coleslaw and fresh biscuits. Yum

That is so cool. The finished work is great. For me, I can see me tearing my jeans on those hinges. I'm lucky like that...
