Turning a Glue Gun Into a 3D Printer

Today we are putting 3D printing filament into a hot glue gun to see if we can make a 3D print pen! Will this actually work??

I tried feeding polyethylene water tubing into my hot glue gun at one point to see if that would work. It wasn't quite hot enough to melt it.
