Blue whales are the largest animal on Earth. But we all know that.

How many of these fascinating blue whale facts do you know? 🤔 ⬇️

💙 1. Blue whales are the largest mammals but also the loudest and heaviest.

📏 2. Blue whales can get up to 30m long.

⚖️ 3. It's estimated that they weigh up to 200,000kg (we can't exactly ask a whale to hop on a scale so the number you see online may vary).

👀 4. At birth, blue whales are already 6 - 7m (20 - 23 ft) long.

🐋 5. Like all mammals, blue whale calves drink milk. 🍼 In fact, all whales do!

🍼 6. But how does a whale drink milk? Instead of suckling, the blue whale mother sort of injects the milk into the baby's mouth.

⏰ 7. And because blue whale milk is mostly fat, blue whale calves grow quickly.

🧐 8. 6 months after birth, blue whales are almost double in length.

🦐 9. That's more or less when they stop drinking milk and move on to eating krill.
