Carrier 004 is being built in the Shanghai Jiangnan shipyard where the yard plans to build the first nuclear powered merchant ship. One would think that if it were going to build a nuclear carrier, it would build the first in this yard. China plans to start building its first commercial size molten salt reactor in 2025 and complete it in 2029. Is it possible that China might power the 004 with a MSR?

The Shandong aircraft carrier with Type 052D, Type 055 and other supply and surveillance vessels visited Guam. The USA already moved its troops and dispersed them to 2nd island chain, and Australia to protect its troops and hardware. When the Type 055s went to Bering Straits Alaska did not notice till they are off its coast.... USA is weak in the North Alaska/North California defence. Alaska is just opposite Russia Far East which China/North Korea and Russia are developing following recent visits by Russian President to North Korea and China

Logically, the 004 would be the sister ship to the Fujian. Which means non-nuclear. The 005 onwards would most probably be nuclear. Chinese CVs are generational in nature with each generation adding on incremental improvements compared to the previous one.

The two conventional power aircraft carriers (type 001&2) form the carrier battle group to patrol South Sea and China coastline.
The two nuclear-powered aircraft carriers (type 003) will form the carrier group to be deploying oversea to protect China interest around the globe.
