Tilt and Trim Issues. Won't go up but will go down.

Tilt and trim not working. Trim goes down but not up. Tilt and trim issues. Trim sender is usually the problem if it goes down and not up. Mercruiser alpha one tilt and trim. Boat tilt and trim

One side of the outdrive will have the trim limit switch, the other will be the trim sender which is essentially a potentiometer for sending the position to the gauge. Only the trim limit switch is used to stop the movement. The wires to these are prone to breaking down and rotting before any other wires. If you want, they can be bypassed, just be careful to not raise up the outdrive too much while its engaged.

What if my trim goes up but when I try and trim down it does nothing. It was stuck in the down position over night while on the trailer and I had to lower the front of the boat to get it unstuck and raise it the out drive. Now it will raise but it does nothing when I try and lower it. Any ideas?

So quick question when I’m backing the boat into the water and the tilt bottom won’t let the propeller drop do I just use the tilt button all the way down ? And when I put the boat back on the trailer tilt only up ?

Hey Chris, my trailer button isn't working but my trim does, I need the prop to go up higher when driving home from the dock or to it, what could that issue be?

What if our inboard boat does not have the tilt switch

My trim will go down without issue. But when pressing the button up to raise it, it does nothing. No sound or anything. Glad I checked it otherwise I wouldn’t be able to get it out of the water going up the ramp. Would be scraping the ground. Any thoughts? Still think it could be solenoid? Thanks.

What sender controls trim up? I can trim all the way down but only halfway up

The little plate on the inside keeps moving out of place. Is there a way to permanently fix this?

I replaced my tilt trim motor, and No matter what boutton I press the unit only goes up.

My "up" suddenly became very slow, trailer is probably 1/4 speed. Changed solenoid and the up button works but the speed is still very slow. The down is fast and works properly. Takes about 2 minutes to trailer. It's a merc 3.0. Why would it be so slow?

Mine wouldn’t go up but would go down... I loosened and wiggles every damn wire on the solenoid block thinking bad connection but couldn’t even get it to click.. had to strap up the lower unit got home hit the button and it’s working again lol

That's happening on my outboard. Maybe cylinder rebuild?
