And never, *never* forget the sheer joy of being on a bike, in the forest. ☺️

When I take a friend out on their first ride two things I always say are "It's not a race" go a pace you're comfortable at and "There's no shame in walking". If they come up on somthing bigger than their skills.

Commit some time to learn MTB skills like hopping, etc. That's not always an easy thing to do as it requires patience & perseverance esp. for beginners like myself. But hey, it really bear fruits when you have even the basics of MTB skill.

Lots'a love, cheers, & Mabuhay, from tropical Philippines! #KeepBiking

Very good tips! Much better to hear and see what to do rather than what not to do (as precisely described towards the end of this video!!) - positive thinking!

Take every opportunity you get to practice small stuff at the parking lot. Maybe while waiting for your riding buddies to arrive. Practice drops at the curbs, rolling or hopping over wheel blocks, slalom turns...

I'm nearly 50, and just got into MTB. The best advice I remind myself of is "Just Keep Peddling".
Whether it's a hard uphill, or a state of mind when it's cold out. When your friends who are faster than you and are way ahead. When you run out of breath and have to take it slowly. Whether it's dark and you need to get out your lights, or you just don't have the mojo for anything.

JKP - It doesn't have to be fast....but JKP.

I remind myself. (get off YouTube and JKP)

Excellent video. I'm amazed that you always have something new to teach me. Stiff arms and back during wheelies and unweighting the bike were 2 great tips for me.
