It's weird that society looks down at trades like plumbing, electrician, and hvac. Especially when these are some of the most valuable, stable, and high-paying skills to have. Society wants to condition young people to think that trade schools are for people who aren't "book smart"... whatever that means. As if going to a big state university and being stuck with student loans is some sort of rite of passage in life.

I’m gonna tell y’all the real secret. Do some type of trade with a company for 2-5 years. Once you have a money and knowledge built up start doing your own thing. The only way to make GOOD money. Uncle started his at 19 and is 63. On top of all that he invested. There isn’t a word to explain the money he has. He gave me his life advice and I’m taking it and running.

For those who know, nursing is not a “little to no college” degree. It’s 2-4 years of high stress, difficult nclex style tests, clinical hours, little to no sleep, etc. It can be done, but anyone in healthcare who’s gotten the degree and licensure to work knows it takes a lot to just get the 1st job.

I joined the Carpenters union when I was 20 years old, started off as in apprentice, toped off at $45 an hour as a journeyman .. best decision I made, I recently quit and became full time for an Airline, $31 an hour with lots of O.T and great bonuses .. and I don't have an education, just a GED . There's plenty of good jobs out there, just gotta look for them and not be lazy .

Money does make you happy. Poverty makes you and everyone around you miserable.

I was always told that if I don’t have anything holding me back; mental/physical issues then it all comes down to determination. I’ve always worked smart and hard and if needed I moved where the work was. I did trades, then got into the automotive industry and for the last 10 years I have been with the DOD. I’m a gov civilian service worker and have found my dream career. That also means I’m a DS-05... that’s our version of GS-13 and I’m on LA locality. That’s right under $130k yr before overtime. I do not have a degree.
While I am not your average case... it can be done.
As far as this guy talking about utilities... my buddy works for PG&E(gas company) in Cali and he’s doing $48hr and he’s not degreed.

He is right about the ATC. You can go into the military and get all the quals and get out and walk on with the FAA as a 2152 controller and make huge money. If I had to do it all over I would’ve done that.

I'm from Houston, I'm fortunate that I got in the IBEW 716 apprentice program. I'm 23 and already bought my first house. God bless unions and their hard work. I wish people would stop being so arrogant and accept to join a union. They literally work for you. Brotherhood till I die.

With these jobs it's not "what" you know but "who" you know, that's how you land them!

Ryan, being a dental hygienist or registered nurse requires a mandatory of two years prerequisite courses before they even consider you as a potential candidate. Once you fulfill your prerequisites courses one can apply to the dental hygiene or registered nurse program which is a fulltime two year program. Four years minimum sometimes working adults take much longer. These professions are not for the undisciplined.

I honestly feel like killing myself when i dwell on trying to make a career for myself as i see no hope, so much so i feel lost in this mad jungle. Im always one of the hardest workers in any job I've ever had but with no qualifications i have an impending feeling of doom, trapped.

I quit my $32 a hour job as well . Hated the long hours working 7 days a week. And brings taxes 1/3 of my paycheque . Best decision I ever made 👌🙏

I worked as an electrician for 15yrs and the good thing about it is you can do tons of side jobs in residential homes as I worked in commercial buildings and chemical plants making 35dls an hour plus we would keep all the copper which would add up in the thousands in a year. So if you choose a trade make sure you can do side jobs while you work for a company. That way you can make enough for investing in the stock market
