TESS Helps Reveal Multiple Planets, Including Promising World

Tour the GJ 357 system, located 31 light-years away in the constellation Hydra. Astronomers confirming a planet candidate identified by NASA's Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite subsequently found two additional worlds orbiting the star. The outermost planet, GJ 357 d, is especially intriguing to scientists because it receives as much energy from its star as Mars does from the Sun.

Gotta say, the animators and illustrators did an excellent job with this. Explaining and illustrating the concepts of both planetary transits and gravitational redshifting within like 25 seconds with these beautiful graphics. I expect no less from NASA. :-)

so send a laser signal to the planet, for 31 years, calculating when it would cross its orbit. if in year 32 we get a response, we have found our alien civiliation. worth the expense.

An earth like planet twice the size of earth! Can anyone guess what Gravity would be like there?? So my guess is that it really wouldn't be a fun planet to visit at least not without an exoskeleton or at least not on land.
