I have lived in Florida my entire life. Most of the hurricane damage in Florida happens in coastal areas, and in flood prone areas. This has been true throughout Florida's history. Yet people continue to live along the coast and/or in flood prone areas. "Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it".

Who on earth would buy a ground level home near water on the West Coast of Florida after 5 hurricanes in 2 years?

The flooded cars will probably be cleaned up and sold as used cars in the north to unsuspecting buyers.

I lived in St Pete from 2015 to 2023. I've seen storms (Irma, Ian, etc). My friend told me that it's worse than anything I could imagine. And, she's lived in St Pete since 2004.

Converting it to public beach parks will keep it out of wallstreet hands and allow locals and tourists to enjoy it

Engineered weather. Well done! Whoever did this, hope you're happy seeing the outcome. What a tragedy.

After 59 years, I sold m6 home and moved last month to Virginia. Florida is too hot, has too many people, and is way too expensive for a Retiree! I'm so glad to be gone!

Wait the worse is yet to come… insurance rates that will drive many people from owning a home.

I dont understand how someone can look at water totally surrounded by housing and say " look how beautiful this is?" To me, its not, the water is nice, the housing ruins it. Nature is beautiful, what we do is not

This is what happens when you live close to the water, it has risk if you live there you must be able to have a cash reserve to pay for rebuilding.

When I saw Milton being created near Texas, I predicted the geoengineers were going to send the hurricane in an area that needed to be overtaken by rich unscrupulous conglomerates

I'm a Floridian. I have lived here most of my life. Also loved in the Philippines on Clark AFB as a kid. Been through a couple of hurricanes and typhoons. In the Philippines, the houses are equipped with stuff like metal shutters, houses built on high ground. Just got to outsmart the storms with our construction.

If anything, my home inland just went up massively. Because demand for coastal housing is 0, many homes were destroyed across the state thus reducing supply, thus increasing the value on my house. That’s my take.
