Fusion would NOT be simple to impliment. You would need an entirely unique model for EVERY POSSIBLE COMBINATION OF TWO POKEMON, plus there's also forms to take into consideration, and the fact that most fusions would need new animations.. It's completely unfeasable. Even if it's implimented in a game where you can only get the original 151, that's 22, 801 new models, of 22, 801 unique new designs, most of which would need new animations. And even if it was 2d sprite-based, with no animations, that's at least 68, 403 sprites (front, back, icon), but I think we both know that the fans would never let a new Pokemon game with no animations fly today.

Simple? The only way they can do fusion is with the use of AI. There would literally be 524, 800 variations if only 2 Pokemon could fuse.

I had a difference of opinion in what some of these beta designs ended up being. 11:02 I think that green thing at the top may have been repurposed into Cobalion by the time gen 5 came. The Pokemon to the left is beta-Shiftry imo. If you look carefully at 11:35, I don't think the blue thing and the thing to the right are in the same line. I think that blue thing may have been a proto-Snom, and the bug to the left, a proto-Frosmoth. 11:47 the cool shark, if you look at the top of its head it has the same X as Sharpedo. So, I think that was a beta-Sharpedo. 1 down and two to the left, I bet that ended up being used for Ferroseed. The squid on the far left at 11:58 willing to bet that's where they got the design for Inkay/Malamar. There's a lot of cool stuff in here. Thanks for sharing this.
