This year, I've gone from a 23-inch to 30-inch vertical and have lost about 12kg since April at 48. I feel the best I've ever felt.

1) have done lots of jumping
2) have more fast twitch muscle fibres
3) had early childhood exposure to diverse movement experiences
4) good strength/plyometric training
5) body composition

I’ve trained a solid amount of people and 40 inch vertical is very possible, I’ve seen the worst genetics in the world get stuck around 37-38 inches, but really dialing in you can break past it just like anything

Even though I knew all this stuff, it’s great to have it reiterated and hammered back in. Super motivating to keep trucking along with my training! Cheers!

Thank you ! I was feeling bad for myself about my vertical and magically YouTube showed me your video. I’ve been training for 3 years and your video is giving me hope, If I do better I’ll got my 40. So once again thank you coach to help me get back on my feet

I am not an exaptational basketball player but it is my first preference for a team sport or activity. I have been really into lifting both for strength and hypertrophy which have sports attached but by no means do I participate in them. I am also about a year older than Paul at the time he filmed this. I have always been tall at 6'3" but I didn't even make the J/HS teams and could not touch rim at 16.

It is very bizarre when I hoop with the young bloods and they start quizzing me out on how I jump 34-38in. They often bring with them very self limiting beliefs. They almost do not believe me that genetics had nothing to do with it. I naturally fell into this check off this list. They almost do not want to believe they could jump as high with some simple actional steps. That is why I believe in the bonus number 6. If you speak a limitation over yourself then you are at a disadvantage, just not the one you are reaching for to cope with inaction.

hello i could only imagine how tremendously busy you are but could I ask you a few questions regarding applying the shock training method (actual plyo's) to the upper body? I am particularly curious to see how/if this training would benefit the shoulder complex for the performance of internal rotation for an increased overhead throwing propulsive velocity? I am considering this for my dissertation topic for my MCS in strength and conditioning. However I question if this would be as affective for this purpose as it is for the lower body and its benefits to jumping and sprinting. For example the uniqueness of the achilise tendon being the best orientation and structure for the force vectors when loading and recoiling the person upwards, almost matching a spring. I was wondering if I could get your opinion because you are one of the best educators and practitioner that deploys plyometric training effectively on the internet to my knowledge.
